Where is adCenter Gatineau now, the still coming beta challenging Google Analytics?

Gatineau (a Canadian analytics software bought up by Microsoft) has been discussed in the blogosphere since January, when Ian Thompson has confirmed the rumour that ‘yes, a free web analytics tool is coming from Microsoft.’ The Google Analytics rival is integrated with adCenter and the MS advertiser toolset in general.

Well it is still coming, and although it is free, you are to open an adCenter account (for $5): “Please note: During the beta phase, users of Project Gatineau will be required to create an adCenter account. While use of Project Gatineau is completely free of charge, there is a one-time $5 charge upon creation of an adCenter account. If you already have an adCenter account, you may use the e-mail address associated with that account.” Beta testers can apply here with an email, a URL and a traffic estimation provided. Gatineau registration for Beta

And what cool as a cucumber features we can expect can be seen in this video showing Ian Thomas’s presentation at the Belgian OX2’s Web Analytics Day 2007 (Sept 14). Ian highlights:

“One thing I’d stress again is that all the slides from “Campaign Visualization” onward (except the last one - that’s in there in error) represent stuff that we’re working on for future beta releases of Gatineau. So if you get the chance to get into beta 1, you won’t see this functionality.”

And if you get the chance to listen to Ian in life in Washington DC (E-metrics Marketing Optimization Summit in October 14-17)  drop a line on the discussions here if you feel like (annasebestyen at gmail dot com).
