VideoClix Hypervideos and TV

Recently, I have written about the hypervideo market featuring Asterpix and Ooyala as the top solutions. Vancouver-based VideoClix (funded by Asia Capital, Daylight Ventures, etc.) also got some coverage, mostly through Asterpix CEO naming VideoClix as the only viable competitor. Now Babak Maghfourian, CEO of VideoClix added some of his corrections (see also in the comments section):

  • VideoClix has a SmarTrack feature allowing users to easily tag and track objects autonomously.
  • We also have a free version (CPC based) and educational version for $249. [My question: knowing that ‘free’ has more interpretations, does Videoclix offer a free-I-mean-real-free version for average users, yes, that UGC crowd?]
  • The Pro and Xtreme versions are Mac based as most Pro video producers use FCP or Avid on Macs to edit their content. So these versions aren’t suitable for the UGC crowd.
  • The most important difference between our solution and the rest of our colleagues in this industry is that ALL OBJECTS in VideoClix productions are clickable and the segmentation is perfect… with absolutely no intrusion in the viewing experience. Just pure entertainment with full interactivity. [my eyebrows: is that so?]
  • And last but not least VideoClix.tv will be launched next month, which will pleasantly surprise you and your readers. Maybe not the competition… But at least it’ll give them a direction to shoot for.

Here’s the interface of Videoclix (no sound):

Babak does not mention how their discussions with YouTube were going ahead since last June, so that would be interesting to hear about, too. Anyway, dear competitors, please feel free to react in the comments.
